We’ve been asked a lot of questions over the years, so check these over: someone else has probably had the same burning issue.
If you’ve got any questions not covered here please feel free to contact us >>
No. You relax. Starsand’s skipper and crew will take care of the sailing. But if you’d like to try your hand on the ropes, we’re happy to give you a shot at it. Just say the word.
The usual stuff: hat, sunscreen, sunglasses, swimmers, a towel, snorkelling gear if you have it, seasickness tablets if you need them, a sense of humour and an appetite for adventure.
Something comfortable and casual – it’s very informal. You can dress to impress if you like, but we don’t allow boots, court shoes, black-soled runners or high heels (even though the skipper loves them). It’s a good idea to bring a warm jacket in case the breeze gets chilly.
Yes, we’ve got nibbles and lunch sorted. If you’re chartering the boat we can arrange whatever catering you need.
The yacht is fully licensed. We sell drinks at the bar.
We have two – please don’t block them! The golden rule is: if you haven’t eaten or drunk it, don’t put it down the loo!
Funny thing, seasickness (not while you’re throwing up, obviously). It affects everyone differently. If you know or suspect you’re a sufferer, pop some seasickness pills an hour before boarding. You can get the anti-drowsy ones but the drowsy ones with a G & T are fab! Really though, as long as you stay on deck where there’s plenty of fresh air you should be fine.
There’s paid parking all around Fishing Boat Harbour and Fremantle. You’ll be out for a good chunk of the day, so consider taking the train. The Fremantle Cat Bus will also get you close to Fishing Boat Harbour. Please allow plenty of time to park and get to the departure jetty.
It takes about 10 minutes to walk to the boat from the Esplanade. We like everyone to be on the boat with at least 10 minutes to spare. Allow plenty of time – we always depart at the advertised time.
Starsand departs from the jetty that runs from Little Creatures to Joes Fish Shack in Fishing Boat Harbour. The street address is Mews Road but don’t look for us on the street. We’re in the water!
Kids are great, we love kids (couldn’t eat a whole one, though). If you have a child-size life jacket bring it along and get them to wear it beforehand – it saves a lot of drama. We do have kids life jackets on board and it is a regulation that all children under 10 wear one at all times. We’ll certainly keep an eye out, but children on board Starsand are the responsibility of their parents.
